Where do your
words go?
What you write can leave your phone — it goes to Cohesive's servers and to outside model providers, but only when that's what it takes to give you the thing you asked for. A person can look at your records in three cases: you asked for support, there's a security or abuse investigation, or the law requires it. Your records are never sold, never used for ads, never used to train public models, and never read out of curiosity.

Questions people ask
Do I have to use it every day?
No. There's nothing to keep up. No streaks, no daily target, no reminder designed to make you feel behind. A week where you never open it is a normal week.
Will it tell me I'm addicted?
No. Cohesive never diagnoses you and never calls a behaviour good or bad. The same hour on a phone means completely different things for different people, and nothing about the hour itself tells you which. A session is allowed to end with “nothing here” — and it does, often.
Is this a journaling app?
Not really. You're not writing entries. A typical session is two taps and one short answer, and most of what you say is never saved at all. What's left after months isn't a diary — it's a short list of sentences about what matters to you.
How long does it take?
About ten seconds if you stop at the catch, which is a complete session on its own. A minute or two if you follow the question it asks.
How is this different from a blocker like Opal or one sec?
Blockers work on the behaviour: they put friction between you and the app and count the hours you saved. Cohesive doesn't block anything and doesn't count anything. It treats the moment as information about you rather than a problem to suppress, and what accumulates is a map of what you actually want, not a stat line.
Can I get my stuff out if I stop using it?
Yes. Export and deletion both work whether or not you've paid, and an export you already downloaded stays yours after the account is gone. You keep the map. You delete the machine.
What is a life map?
In Cohesive, your life map is the short list of sentences you've explicitly chosen to keep — about your identity, what you value, what you want, and where you're going. Every sentence is either one you typed or one you tapped word for word. Nothing is generated on your behalf and nothing is inferred from your behaviour.
How is my data handled?
What you write can leave your phone for Cohesive's servers and outside model providers, but only when that is what it takes to produce the result you asked for. A person may access records only for support you requested, a security or abuse investigation, or a legal duty. Records are never sold, used for advertising, used to train public models, optimised for engagement, or read routinely. The privacy policy sets out retention, rights, export, and deletion.
